Qatar posted the first win at the Fiba Asia Cup in Tokyo. They held off India to improve at 1-1 record in Group B. Mohammed Yousef scored 13 points to lead the winners. Qatar limited India to just 6 points in the starting quarter and gained a 9-point lead. India did not allow their opponents to clear off in the second quarter. India cut the deficit at 6-point mark at the interval 25:31. Qatar increased the tempo in the third term. They capitalized firing 27 points and opening a 14-point advantage at the final break. Qatar did not look in the fourth quarter and rallied to the victory. Omar Abdelkader posted 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Yasseen Ismail added 12 points for Qatar. Narender Kumar and Pethani Rikin answered with 14 points each for India.
