Japan registered the second straight win at the Fiba Asia Cup. They knocked down Taiwan in Group B. J.R. Sakuragi posted 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead the hosts. Taiwan slipped at 0-1 record after the loss. Japan set the tone early in the encounter. They dropped 27 points in the opening quarter to ensure a 13-point lead. Japan stretched the lead in the second frame. They accumulated a 53:34 halftime advantage. Taiwan started to find their game in the second half. They cut the deficit at 18-point mark in the third term and went on a desperate rescue rally in the fourth stanza. But the gap proved too deep to overcome as Japan rolled to the victory. Takatoshi Furukawa notched 16 points, whie Kosuke Takeuchi added 15 points in the win. Tien Lei answered with 19 points for Taiwan. Tseng Wen-Ting had 15 points in the loss.
