Preliminary Round Round 5: IRAN - JAPAN 71-65

Iran conquered Group B of the 2012 Fiba Asia Cup. The team overcame the hosts, Japan 71:65 in the decisive game to remain undefeated. Japan meanwhile suffered the first loss and finished the group with 3-1 record on the second place. Both teams entered the game undefeated and showed a great game. The hosts started with 17-13 and added 18-12 in the second frame. A 10-0 run midway through the fourth quarter brought however Iran back into the game. Iran added 25-14 in the last stanza to seal the victory. Shahsavand Mohammad top-scored for the winners with 16 points and Afagh Hamed, Sahakian Oshin and Kardoust Asghar posted 12 each. Davoudichegani Aren followed them with 11 points in a win. Sakurai Ryota ended up with 14 points in the losing effort and Takeuchi Kosuke collected 12 points and 11 rebounds. Kanamaru Kosuke delivered 10, while Furukawa Takatoshi had 9.
