Taiwan edge Qatar in a thriller at the 2012 Fiba Asia Cup. Taiwan grabbed 75:73 win to finish the group with 2-2 record on the third place. Qatar meanwhile ended up with 1-3 record on the fourth position. Qatar won the first period 22-17 but led only 1 point at the halftime as Taiwan needed 18-14 to reduce the score. Moreover Taiwan grabbed the lead after 18-15 in the third quarter and had 53:51 advantage. Both teams scored 22 points in the last stanza for the final result. Tien Lei made the final dunk with 1 second to go to give his side the necessary win. Tseng Wen-Ting top-scored for the winners with 17 points and Chen Shih-Chieh as well as Wu Tai-Hao posted 15 each. Tien Lei followed them with 11 points in the winning effort. Ali Erfan posted 17 points in defeat and Johnson Clinton Fihnoir had 15. Ahmad Baker nailed 12, while Abdelkader Omar notched 7.
