Regular Season Round 10: San German - Morovis M. 68-87

An interesting game for Montaneras (8-2) which played road game in San German against one of their biggest challengers Athleticas (6-5). Third ranked Montaneras had an easy win 87-68. The game without a history. Montaneras led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Athleticas' 46. Montaneras had a 39-24 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Montaneras made 8 blocks. American power forward Angelina Williams (183-83, college: Illinois) notched a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!), 17 rebounds and 5 blocks to lead the effort and Neisha Figueroa supported her with 11 points and 5 rebounds. Five Montaneras players scored in double figures. Montaneras' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds by the former international Stephanie Rosado (189-89, college: IPFW) did not help to save the game for Athleticas. Guard Zuleimarie Sanchez (168-87) added 16 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Montaneras maintains third position with 8-2 record behind leader Carolina G. Athleticas at the other side keep the fourth place with five games lost. Montaneras will meet league's leader Gigantes in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Athleticas will play again against Montaneras in Morovis and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
