Iran eased into Fiba Asia Cup semifinal stage. They thumped Uzbekistan in the first quarterfinal of the day in Tokyo. Asghar Kardoust posted 12 points and 8 rebounds to lead the winners. Uzbekistan tried to stay close throughout the first frame. They trailed by just four points after ten minutes 13:17. But Iran held their opponents to just 3 points in the second quarter and boosted the gap. They ensured a 32:16 halftime advantage. Iran increased the tempo in the third term. They unloaded 27 points and piled up a 34-point lead before the fourth quarter. Iran never looked back afterwards cruising to the victory. Aren Davoudichegani posted 11 points, while Mohammad Jamshidi added 10 point for Iran. Vyacheslav Denisov responded with 9 points for Uzbekistan. Aleksandr Yahin netted 8 points and 9 rebounds in the loss.
