Japan ensured the semifinal birth at home Fiba Asia Cup. The hosts toppled China in Tokyo to set up the clash versus Qatar. Kosuke Takeuchi accounted for 18 points and 10 rebounds to lead the winners. China led by a single point ten minutes into the game 16:15. But Japan stiffened defence and held their opponents to just 9 points in the second quarter. The hosts pulled ahead for a 31:25 halftime advantage. Japan kept a tight grip on the lead in the second half. The home team accumulated a 7-point lead heading into the fourth frame. China cut the deficit at 3-point mark but it was as close as they could get. The hosts quickly boosted the lead to double-digits and rolled to the victory. Ryota Sakurai posted 13 points, while Kosuke Kanamaru added 10 points in the win. Wang Zhelin answered with 15 points and 14 boards for China. Guo Ailun and Zhao TaiLong had 10 points each in the loss.
