Quarter-Finals Round 6: PHILIPPINES - TAIWAN 75-68

Philippines made it into the semifinal stage of Fiba Asia Cup. They toppled Taiwan in the quarterfinal today. Marcus Douthit stepped up with 19 points and 18 rebounds to pace the Smart Gilas. Taiwan started the game with a near perfect defence. They limited their opponents to 10 points in the opening quarter and posted a 3-point lead. But Philippines adjusted their offence in the second quarter. They unloaded 28 points to surge ahead for a 38:32 halftime lead. Taiwan refused to give up and increased the pressure in the third quarter. They cut the deficit to a single point with one period remaining 53:54. But Philippines opened the fourth frame on a 12:2 run to clear off and never looked back en route to the win. Gary David posted 14 points, while Ranidel deOcampo contributed 10 points in the victory. Creighton Douglas answered with 21 points for Taiwan. Lin Chih-Chieh answered with 12 points in the loss.
