Semi-Finals Game 7: JAPAN - QATAR 73-66

Japan will play for the title at Fiba Asia Cup. The hosts held off Qatar tonight to set up the clash versus Iran for the trophy. Kosuke Takeuchi accounted for 18 points to lead the winners. Qatar will now take on Philippines for the Bronze medals. The teams got to a slow start. They combined for only 21 points in the opening quarter as Qatar enjoyed a 3-point lead. Japan however turned things around in the second period. They went on a 21:5 run to crown the first half and secured a 30:19 halftime advantage. Japan kept Qatar at safe distance throughout the third term. The hosts ensured a 12-point lead before the fourth frame. Qatar got within 6 points with under two minutes remaining but Hiejima and Takatoshi Furukawa went deadly from the stripe to seal the victory for Japan. Takatoshi Furukawa accounted for 15 points, while J.R. Sakuragi added 12 points for the winning side. Mohammed Yousef answered with 22 points, while Erfan Ali had 15 points and 13 boards in the loss.
