Regular Season Round 1: Ballon Inter - DCU Saints 82-67

Undefeated DCU Saints (1-1) recorded its first loss in Dublin on Friday night. Visitors were defeated by second ranked Ballon Inter (1-1) 82-67. Ballon Inter shot 68.9 percent from the field. Strangely DCU Saints outrebounded Ballon Inter 36-24 including 24 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Ballon Inter especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 66.7 percentage. Lithuanian forward Mindaugas Tamusauskas (203-83) fired 26 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Lithuanian power forward Aurimas Statkus (201-81) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. Guard Eoin Quill (198-81) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds and forward Patrick Glover (193-77) added 14 points respectively for lost side. DCU Saints' coach David Donnelly rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Despite that victory Ballon Inter went down to third position due to points difference, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated DCU Saints. Ballon Inter is looking forward to face league's leader UCC Demons in Cork in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. DCU Saints will play at home against Moycullen in Galway and are hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
