Regular Season Round 13: Quebradillas - San German 77-66

An exciting game was played in Quebradillas. First ranked Piratas faced 4th placed Athleticas. Host Piratas (12-4) defeated guests from San German (8-7) 77-66. The game was mostly controlled by Piratas. Athleticas was better in fourth quarter 24-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Piratas players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Becca Bruszewski (185-88, college: Notre Dame) who helped to win the game recording 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international swingman Cristina Centeno (173-90, college: Siena) contributed with 15 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Piratas players scored in double figures. The former international guard Michelle Gonzalez (167-89, college: FIU) answered with 12 points and 6 rebounds and guard Zuleimarie Sanchez (168-87) added 12 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Athleticas. Piratas have a solid series of three victories in a row. Newly promoted Piratas maintains first place with 12-4 record. Athleticas at the other side keep the fourth position with seven games lost. Piratas will play against bottom-ranked Leonas (#7) in Ponce in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Athleticas will play at home against Valencianes in Juncos and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
