Regular Season Round 1: ToPo - Tapiolan Honka 60-72

Undefeated Torpan Pojat (0-1) recorded its first loss in Helsinki. Hosts were defeated by leader Tapiolan Honka (1-0) 72-60. It looked good early as Torpan Pojat took an 4-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Tapiolan Honka had a 23-13 second period charge getting the lead and Torpan Pojat was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 60-72. Torpan Pojat was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. American swingman Ronnie Clark (195-81) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import forward Eric Brennan (201-89, college: Kutztown) chipped in 17 points and 9 rebounds. At the losing side American forward HL Coleman (202-74, college: Wyoming) responded with 26 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) and forward Sad Niskanen (198-88) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Tapiolan Honka left bottom position moving up to fourth place in Division. Torpan Pojat at the other side still closes the standings with one game lost. Tapiolan Honka will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Torpan Pojat will play on the road against the league's second-placed Porvoon Tarmo (#2) to get more than just one victory in their record.
