Gansos has finally registered their first victory this season after ten consecutive loses. The win is especially important as it came on the road game in , where they defeated Gigantes (1-10) 108-103 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 6 points after three quarters before their 34-28 charge, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time and get a 5-point victory in overtime. Gansos outrebounded Gigantes 50-29 including a 31-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Gigantes were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American guard Shannon Shorter (193-89, college: N.Texas) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import swingman Royce Gaye (193-88, college: Tex.A&M-Kingsv.) helped adding 31 points and 7 rebounds. Gansos' coach Luis Andres Garcia used entire bench in such tough game. American guard Sam Liggins (178, college: Alders.-Broad.) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists and naturalized American guard Justin Avalos (191-87, college: Western St.) scored 28 points and 5 rebounds. Four Gigantes players scored in double figures. Gansos left bottom position moving up to fifteenth place, which they share with defeated Gigantes. Gansos will face higher ranked Fuerza Regia (#11) in Monterrey in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Gigantes will play on the road against Pioneros (#8) in Cancun.
