Regular Season Round 2: Schwelm - Dorsten 100-72

Everything went according to plan when top-ranked SG Schwelmer Baskets (2-0) outscored at home bottom-ranked Dorsten (0-2) 100-72 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by SG Schwelmer Baskets. Dorsten was better in fourth quarter 29-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. SG Schwelmer Baskets dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Dorsten's 46. They outrebounded Dorsten 39-26 including 24 on the defensive glass. SG Schwelmer Baskets' coach Raphael Wilder felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. American guard Christopher Jones (183-88, college: Prairie View A&M) responded with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and naturalized American guard Gene Hagner (190-83) scored 17 points. Four SG Schwelmer Baskets and five Dorsten players scored in double figures. SG Schwelmer Baskets keep a position of Group North leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Dorsten still closes the standings with two games lost. SG Schwelmer Baskets will face Herzoege Wolfenbuettel (#7) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Dorsten will play against Recklinghausen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
