Regular Season Round 15: Quebradillas - Carolina G. 73-72

The most exciting game of round 15 in the BSNF took place in Quebradillas. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 3rd placed Gigantes (13-4) to first ranked Piratas (14-4) 73-72 in the game for the first place. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Gigantes won fourth quarter 19-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great shooting night for Piratas especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 66.7 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a great evening for American forward Becca Bruszewski (185-88, college: Notre Dame) who led her team to a victory scoring 16 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international guard Yahimily Cabrera (-82) helped adding 10 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was international forward Yolanda Jones (184-84, college: La-Lafayette) with 21 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international guard Carla Cortijo (172-87, college: Texas) scored 19 points and 7 steals. Five Piratas and four Gigantes players scored in double figures. Piratas have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Newly promoted Piratas maintains first place with 14-4 record. Defending champion Gigantes dropped to the second position with four games lost. They share it with Morovis M.. Piratas are looking forward to face Tigres (#6) in Aguas Buenas in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Gigantes will play on the road against the league's second-placed Montaneras (#2) in Morovis and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
