Regular Season Round 15: San German - Morovis M. 68-71

Fourth-ranked Athleticas (8-9) gave a tough game to second ranked Montaneras (13-4) in San German. The visitors from Morovis managed to secure only three-point victory 71-68. However their fans expected easier game. The guests were ahead by 3 points but lost the second period ending it with a 2-point deficit before their 22-17 run, which allowed them to win the game. Montaneras brought some defensive toughness making 9 blocks. It was an exceptional evening for international point guard Pamela Rosado (165-86) who led the winners and scored 30 points and 4 steals (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). American power forward Angelina Williams (183-83, college: Illinois) accounted for 23 points, 9 rebounds and 5 blocks for the winning side. American guard Sumar Leslie (170-90, college: Nicholls St.) came up with 23 points and the former international Stephanie Rosado (189-89, college: IPFW) added 16 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Athleticas in the defeat. The victory was the third consecutive win for Montaneras. They maintain second place with 13-4 record behind leader Quebradillas, which they share with Carolina G. Athleticas lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the fourth position with nine games lost. Montaneras will play against Gigantes (#3) in Carolina in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Athleticas will have a break next round.
