Regular Season Round 3: Gargzdai - Statyba 68-79

Everything went according to plan when thirteenth ranked Statyba (2-1) beat on the road bottom-ranked Gargzdai-Bremena (0-3) 79-68. It looked good early as Gargzdai-Bremena took an 10-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Statyba took control getting tie in the second period and winning the second half and eventually winning the game that evening by 11 points. Statyba dominated on the defensive end, holding Gargzdai-Bremena to just 6 points in fourth quarter. It was a good game for guard Martynas Paliukenas (195-93) who led his team to a victory with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists (perfect from the field making all six shots). Center Vitalijus Luksa (206-86) contributed with 14 points for the winners. Statyba's coach Gintautas Regina allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Forward Donatas Tarolis (201-94) answered with 15 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and forward Laurynas Lucinskas (201-93) added 14 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Gargzdai-Bremena. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Statyba moved-up to second place, which they share with 8 other teams. Gargzdai-Bremena at the other side still closes the standings with three games lost. Statyba's next round opponent will be Olimpas (#9) and are hoping to win another game. Gargzdai-Bremena will play against Zalgiris-Sabonio (#7) in Kaunas and hopes to get finally their first victory.
