Regular Season Round 4: NY Phantoms - Telekom Baskets 66-83

Rather predictable result when tenth ranked Telekom Baskets (2-1) won against 14th ranked New Yorker Phantoms (1-3) in Braunschweig 83-66 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Telekom Baskets. New Yorker Phantoms was better in fourth quarter 24-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Telekom Baskets made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. Quite impressive performance for American-Jamaican forward Patrick Ewing Jr. (203-84, college: Georgetown) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds (made all of his nine free throws !!!). Guard David McCray (188-86) contributed with 12 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Telekom Baskets players scored in double figures. Cameroonian forward Harding NaNa (203-81, college: Delaware) replied with 15 points and 9 rebounds and American guard Immanuel McElroy (193-80, college: Cincinnati) added 14 points in the effort for New Yorker Phantoms. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Telekom Baskets moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser New Yorker Phantoms dropped to the thirteenth position with three games lost. Telekom Baskets will face Artland Dragons (#9) in Quakenbrueck in the next round where they are favorite. New Yorker Phantoms will play at home against the league's leader BBC Bayreuth (#1).
