The game in Athens was also quite interesting. Bottom-ranked Aris (0-2) played at the court of eighth ranked Asteras (1-1). Asteras defeated Aris 63-50 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Asteras. Aris managed to win third quarter 17-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Asteras forced 21 Aris turnovers and outrebounded them 34-21 including 22 on the defensive glass. American forward Katerina Deli (168, college: Scranton) notched 24 points and 5 rebounds to lead the effort and center Katerina Glyniadaki (196-86, college: Cal-Riverside) supported her with 13 points and 6 rebounds. Even 19 points (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) by guard Niki Hatzakou (175-82) did not help to save the game for Aris. Guard Roula Mouli (177-85) added 10 points and 8 rebounds for the guests. Aris' coach Miltiadis Miliotis rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Asteras left bottom position moving up to sixth place, which they share with Kronos AD. Loser Aris still closes the standings with two games lost. They share the position with 4 other teams. Asteras' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Athens to the arena Panathinaikos.
