The game between closely ranked teams ended with fifth ranked Valencianes' (8-10) road victory over 6th ranked Tigres (6-13) in Aguas Buenas 79-65 on Monday. The game was mostly controlled by Valencianes. Tigres was better in third quarter 16-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Valencianes forced 22 Tigres turnovers and outrebounded them 47-33 including 19 on the offensive glass. American guard Renee Taylor (158-85, college: Miami, FL, agency: Merit Sports) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points and 5 rebounds. Yasmine Holmes contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. American forward Dominic Seals (188-87, college: Texas Tech) answered with 17 points and 8 rebounds and international Frances Lee Flores added 13 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Tigres. Valencianes moved-up to fourth place, which they share with San German. Tigres at the other side keep the sixth position with 13 games lost. Valencianes will face higher ranked Montaneras (#3) in Morovis in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Tigres will play at home against Athleticas in San German and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
