Regular Season Round 4: Rapla - Barsy Atyrau 64-81

There was a minor upset when bottom-ranked Estonian Rapla (0-2) was defeated at home by fifth ranked Kazakhstan Barsy Atyrau (2-2) 81-64 on Monday. The game was mostly controlled by Barsy Atyrau. Rapla was better in third quarter 22-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Barsy Atyrau won last quarter 28-12. They made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. Ukrainian center Vadim Matyukevych (208-80) fired a double-double by scoring 19 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Ukrainian forward Dmitro Antonets (198-88) chipped in 17 points. Five Barsy Atyrau players scored in double figures. Power forward Raido Ringmets (206-83) produced 11 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Rait-Riivo Laane (178-93) added 12 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Rapla's coach Indrek Ruut tested ten players seeing no chance for a win. Defending Kazakhstan champion keeps a position of league leader which they share with defeated Rapla. Loser Rapla still keeps top with two games lost. Barsy Atyrau will face league's second-placed Siauliai on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Rapla will play against the league's leader Ventspils and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
