Regular Season Round 5: TU/Rock - Jelgava 85-66

Everything went according to plan when leader Estonian TU/Rock (4-0) outplayed 5th ranked Latvian Jelgava (1-3) in Tartu 85-66 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by TU/Rock. Jelgava was better in third quarter 17-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 28-of-32 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game, while Jelgava only scored nine points from the stripe. They outrebounded Jelgava 47-34 including a 37-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Lithuanian center Egidijus Dimsa (205-85) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Tanel Kurbas (197-88) contributed with 20 points for the winners. TU/Rock's coach Gert Kullamae allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Latvian guard Sandis Silavs (195-88) answered with 14 points and 9 assists and American center Aaron Brackett (204-90, college: NC-Greensboro) added 12 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Jelgava. Five Jelgava players scored in double figures. TU/Rock have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 4-0 record, which they share with Ventspils. Loser Jelgava keeps the fifth position with three games lost. TU/Rock will face Juventus (#4) in Utena in the next round.
