Regular Season Round 5: Barons kvartals - Tarvas 79-87

Very important is a home loss of second ranked Latvian Barons kvartals (2-2) against fifth ranked Estonian BC Rakvere (1-2) on Saturday night. Host Barons kvartals were defeated by BC Rakvere in a tough game in Riga 79-87. It looked good early as Barons kvartals took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then BC Rakvere had a 24-15 second period charge getting the lead and Barons kvartals were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 79-87. BC Rakvere forced 22 Barons kvartals turnovers. The best player for the winners was point guard Reimo Tamm (185-84) who scored 21 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Latvian swingman Juris Umbrasko (197-79) chipped in 16 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Swingman Salvis Metra (195-84) produced 17 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists and point guard Ilmars Bergmanis (184-81) added 22 points and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Five BC Rakvere and four Barons kvartals players scored in double figures. Barons kvartals' coach Martins Gulbis rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. BC Rakvere left bottom position moving up to fourth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Barons kvartals at the other side dropped to the third position with two games lost. BC Rakvere's next round opponent will be Tln Kalev (#6) in Tallinn.
