Regular Season Round 4: Polpharma - Energa Czarni 76-95

There was a small surprise when ninth ranked Energa Czarni (2-2) crushed 7th ranked Polpharma (2-2) in Starogard 95-76 on Saturday. The game without a history. Energa Czarni led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Quite impressive performance for American point guard Todd Abernethy (185-84, college: Mississippi) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 9 assists. The former international swingman Mateusz Kostrzewski (201-89) contributed with 21 points for the winners. Five Energa Czarni players scored in double figures. American power forward Ben McCauley (206-86, college: N.Carolina St.) replied with 24 points and Serbian power forward Uros Mirkovic (205-82, agency: BeoExcell) added 15 points in the effort for Polpharma. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Energa Czarni moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Polpharma. Energa Czarni will face Anwil (#11) in Wloclawek in the next round where they are favorite. Polpharma will play on the road against AZS Koszalin (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
