The most surprising game was the first loss of undefeated BBC Bayreuth (4-1) in Braunschweig on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by fifteenth ranked New Yorker Phantoms (2-3) 100-69. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of BBC Bayreuth. The game without a history. New Yorker Phantoms led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot 62.3 percent from the field. New Yorker Phantoms shot the lights out from three sinking 18 long-distance shots on high 66.7 percentage. 26 personal fouls committed by BBC Bayreuth helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. International point guard Dennis Schroeder (185-93) stepped up and scored 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and American guard Casey Mitchell (193-88, college: W.Virginia) chipped in 23 points. Five New Yorker Phantoms players scored in double figures. American forward Jason Cain (208-85, college: Virginia) responded with 12 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import center Gary McGhee (208-88, college: Pittsburgh) scored 13 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. New Yorker Phantoms moved-up to tenth place, which they share with 4 other teams. BBC Bayreuth at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. They share it with Ratiopharm and EWE Baskets. New Yorker Phantoms is looking forward to face league's second-placed EWE Baskets in Oldenburg in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. BBC Bayreuth will play at home against Bayern Muenchen and is hoping to win this game.
