Regular Season Round 4: KR - Snaefell 63-104
Date: October 25, 2012
Very significant was Snaefell's (#3) 41-point road victory against 6th ranked KR 104-63. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of KR. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game without a history. Snaefell led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Snaefell forced 20 KR turnovers and outrebounded them 40-21 including a 30-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. The winners were led by American guard Jay Threatt (180-89, college: Delaware St., agency: Pro One Sports) who had that evening a triple-double by scoring 18 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 steals and forward Jon Olafur Jonsson (199-81) supported him with 27 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all ten shots !!!). Five Snaefell players scored in double figures. Even 16 points by American forward Danero Thomas (193-86, college: Murray St.) did not help to save the game for KR. The former international guard Brynjar Bjornsson (191-88, college: Francis Marion) added 10 points and 4 assists for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Snaefell (3-1) keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 4 other teams. KR at the other side keeps the sixth place with two games lost. They share the position with KFI and Thor Thorl. Snaefell will play against KFI (#6) in Reykjavik in the next round where they are favorite. KR will play on the road against Thor Thorl in Thorlakshofn and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
