Regular Season Round 6: Challans - Cognac 85-87

The most exciting game of round 6 in the NM1 took place in Challans. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 11th ranked Vendee Challans (1-4) to top-ranked Cognac (5-0) 87-85 on Saturday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 20-16 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Cognac had a 26-14 advantage in offensive rebounds. 28 personal fouls committed by Vendee Challans helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Vendee Challans' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Cognac have an impressive five-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Blois and Souffel. Vendee Challans at the other side keeps the eleventh place with four games lost. They share the position with Rueil and Sorgues. Cognac is looking forward to face Saint Chamond (#7) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Vendee Challans will play against Sorgues (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
