Very important is a road loss of third ranked Saynatsalon Riento (2-2) against sixth ranked Torpan Pojat (3-2) on Sunday night. Visiting Saynatsalon Riento was crushed by Torpan Pojat in Helsinki 108-68. It was a key game for the second position in Division. The game was mostly controlled by Torpan Pojat. Saynatsalon Riento was better in second period 31-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Torpan Pojat dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Saynatsalon Riento's 26. They outrebounded Saynatsalon Riento 54-36 including a 42-28 advantage in defensive rebounds. Saynatsalon Riento was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Marcus Capers (193-89, college: Washington St.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 19 rebounds. Forward Elias Kajander (196-80) contributed with 15 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Five Torpan Pojat players scored in double figures. American guard C.J. Collins (180-88, college: McNeese St.) answered with 29 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import power forward Eryk Thomas (200-85, college: E.Tenn.St.) added 9 points and 14 rebounds in the effort for Saynatsalon Riento. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Torpan Pojat moved-up to second place in Division. Saynatsalon Riento at the other side dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. Torpan Pojat will play against BC Nokia (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Saynatsalon Riento will play against Tapiolan Honka and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
