Regular Season Round 5: Nova Ves - Levice 85-74

An interesting game where host Nova Ves (#7) won against 4th placed Levice 85-74 on Monday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Nova Ves. Levice managed to win third quarter 28-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Nova Ves forced 27 Levice turnovers. American point guard Maurice Acker (173-87, college: Marquette, agency: Edge Sports) stepped up and scored 21 points and 8 assists for the winners and his fellow American import power forward Dwight Burke (202-86, college: Marquette) chipped in 19 points and 8 rebounds. Burke is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Slovenian center Salih Nuhanovic (208-82) responded with 12 points and 9 rebounds and the former international Tomas Mrvis (200-91) scored 16 points. Four Levice players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Nova Ves maintains seventh place with 2-3 record. Newly promoted Levice keeps the fourth position with two games lost. They share it with Handlova and B.Bystrica. Nova Ves will meet at home higher ranked SKP Banska Bystrica (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Levice will play against Nitra in Nitra and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
