Regular Season Round 2: Jiangsu - Guangdong 83-66

The most surprising game was the first loss of undefeated Guangdong Dolphins (1-1) in Yixing on Tuesday night. Visitors were defeated by tenth ranked Jiangsu Phoenix (1-1) 83-66. The game was mostly controlled by Jiangsu Phoenix. Guangdong Dolphins managed to win third quarter 20-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Guangdong Dolphins 37-17 including a 25-10 advantage in defensive rebounds. American center Krystal Thomas (195-89, college: Duke) had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 19 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and international point guard Xiaojia Chen (177-88) chipped in 16 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists during the contest. Five Jiangsu Phoenix players scored in double figures. Forward Dongxue Zhang (183-90) responded with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) and international center Wei Wei (206-89) scored 14 points. Jiangsu Phoenix left bottom position moving up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Guangdong Dolphins. Jiangsu Phoenix is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Qujing Yunnan (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Guangdong Dolphins will play against Shanghai Octopus (#10) and are hoping to win this game.
