There was a minor upset when 10th ranked Dnipro (3-7) was defeated on the road by twelfth ranked Mykolaiv (3-6) 75-68. Dnipro was ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 22-11 third quarter run of Mykolaiv. They also forced 20 Dnipro turnovers. American guard Josh Mayo (182-87, college: Ill.-Chicago, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) orchestrated the victory by scoring 28 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import swingman Dwayne Mitchell (196-82, college: La-Lafayette, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 9 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Australian-Dutch power forward Daniel Kickert (208-83, college: St.Mary's, CA) answered with 23 points and 8 rebounds and American point guard Derrick Low (188-86, college: Washington St.) added 17 points and 4 assists in the effort for Dnipro. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Mykolaiv moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Cherkasy. Dnipro at the other side dropped to the eleventh position with seven games lost. Mykolaiv's next round opponent will be higher ranked Kryvbasbasket (#8) in Krivoy Rog and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
