Regular Season Round 5: Tychy - GTK Gliwice 84-74

Very important is a road loss of third ranked GTK Gliwice (3-2) against eighth ranked Tychy (2-2) on Saturday night. Visiting GTK Gliwice was defeated by Tychy in Tychy 84-74. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of GTK Gliwice. The game was mostly controlled by Tychy. GTK Gliwice was better in fourth quarter 24-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Power forward Mariusz Markowicz (198-86) stepped up and scored 20 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and power forward Tomasz Bzdyra (196-83) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. Four Tychy players scored in double figures. The former international swingman Mariusz Bacik (207-72) responded with 12 points and 8 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and forward Emil Podkowinski (192-88) scored 16 points. Tychy moved-up to fifth place in Group B, which they share with Sudety and HK Zory. GTK Gliwice at the other side dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. Tychy will play against Nysa Klodzko (#10) in Kloszko in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. GTK Gliwice will have a break next round.
