Regular Season Round 9: Zanavykas - Perlas-MRU 104-90

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both eighth ranked Zanavykas and 13th ranked Perlas-MRU had identical 4-4 record. This time Zanavykas used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Vilnius 104-90 on Saturday night. Zanavykas dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Perlas-MRU's 44. Zanavykas forced 21 Perlas-MRU turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Zanavykas especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 66.7 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Guard Edgaras Stanionis (193-88) stepped up and scored 39 points (!!!) (on 15-of-19 shooting from the field) for the winners and center Vilius Sumskis (213-84, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 20 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Zanavykas' coach Giedrius Zibenas used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was forward Antanas Udras (202-92) with 15 points and 8 rebounds and forward Zydrunas Stankus (197-78, college: Campbell) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Five Perlas-MRU players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Zanavykas maintains eighth place with 5-4 record, which they share with Delikatesas and Triobet. Loser Perlas-MRU dropped to the eleventh position with five games lost. Zanavykas will face Ezerunas-Karys (#13) in Moletai in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Perlas-MRU will play against Olimpas.
