Regular Season Round 5: Darussafaka - Baskent Genclik 73-51
Date: November 4, 2012
Bottom-ranked Baskent Genclik (0-5) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their fifth consecutive match to third ranked Darussafaka (4-1) 73-51. The game without a history. Darussafaka led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. American guard Marcus Hall (185-85, college: Colorado) orchestrated the victory by scoring 15 points and 6 assists. Center Cihan Mumcuogullari (207-83, college: Concordia, MI) contributed with 8 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Forward Ersan Ozseven (205-83) answered with 9 points and 10 rebounds and American forward Kevin Johnson (201-84, college: Humboldt St.) added 12 points in the effort for Baskent Genclik. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Darussafaka. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Usak. Baskent Genclik lost their fifth game in a row. They still closes the standings with five games lost. Darussafaka's next round opponent will be Bandirma Kir. (#14) in Balikesir which should be another easy win for them. Baskent Genclik's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Ankara Maliye Milli.
