Regular Season Round 4: Olympiacos - KAOD 103-67
Date: November 4, 2012
The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Olympiacos as it allowed them to take a leadership position after previous leader's (Kolossos) loss. Olympiacos smashed 4th ranked KAOD in Athens 103-67. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of KAOD. The game without a history. Olympiacos led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to KAOD's 34. Olympiacos had a 27-16 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by KAOD's players. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Georgios Printezis (206-85, agency: FCM) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 8 rebounds. International guard Vassilis Spanoulis (193-82, agency: Beo Basket) contributed with 18 points and 4 assists for the winners. Five Olympiacos players scored in double figures. Center Guy-Marc Michel (213-88, college: Indiana) replied with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds and center Kostas Kakaroudis (204-83) added 17 points in the effort for KAOD. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Olympiacos have a solid four-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Panionios. KAOD at the other side keeps the fourth place with two games lost. They share the position with 6 other teams. KAOD will play next round against Ikaros trying to get back on the winning streak. Olympiacos will try to continue on its current victory against seventh ranked Peristeri GS. It will be extra interesting game as Peristeri GS is their local rival from Athens.
