Regular Season Round 14: Fujitsu RW - Niigata 64-48

WJBL top team - Fujitsu RW (12-0) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they beat eighth ranked Niigata (4-8) in Kawasaki 64-48. The hosts trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 64-48. Fujitsu RW forced 20 Niigata turnovers and outrebounded them 43-23 including a 30-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. International power forward Megumi Shinohara (184-91) had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Rui Machida (161-93) chipped in 11 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. Four Fujitsu RW players scored in double figures. Fujitsu RW's coach Yabuuchi Natsumi used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international guard Hiromi Iwamura (168-81) responded with 10 points and 5 rebounds and guard Nozomi Hoshino (164-87) scored 8 points and 6 assists. Fujitsu RW have an impressive 12-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 12-0 record, which they share with JX Sunflowers. Niigata lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh place with eight games lost. They share the position with Denso Iris and Hitachi Cougars. Fujitsu RW is looking forward to face league's second-placed JX Sunflowers in Kashiwa in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Niigata will play at home against Hitachi Cougars (#9) in Hitachinaka and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
