Regular Season Round 3: Winnipeg - Regina 88-73

Date: November 8, 2012
The game in Winnipeg, MB was also quite interesting. 6th ranked Cougars (1-2) played at the court of eighth ranked Wesmen (1-2). Wesmen defeated Cougars 88-73 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Wesmen. Cougars managed to win third quarter 28-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Wesmen forced 24 Cougars turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for American forward Steven Wesley (196, college: E.Washington) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Benny Iko (198) helped adding 16 points and 8 rebounds. Four Wesmen players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was guard Frank Brown (188) with 18 points and 5 rebounds and forward Connor Burns (201) scored 13 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. It was the only win of host team this round and in all other games visitors recorded victories. Wesmen left bottom position moving up to fifth place, which they share with Regina and Calgary. Wesmen will again meet at home Cougars (#7) in the next round. Cougars will have a break next round.
