Regular Season Round 8: Challans - St Chamond 88-82

An interesting game took place in Challans where higher ranked Saint Chamond (3-4) was upset on the court of fourteenth ranked Vendee Challans (2-5) 88-82. It looked good early as Saint Chamond took an 4-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Vendee Challans had a 24-19 second period charge getting the lead and Saint Chamond was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 82-88. Vendee Challans forced 19 Saint Chamond turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Vendee Challans especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 56.3 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. Guard Johan Rathieuville (177-85) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Forward Fabien Herard (198-79) contributed with 24 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Vendee Challans players scored in double figures. Forward Jean-Stephane Rinna (205-83) replied with 20 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Romain Tillon (180-82, agency: ACMT) added 19 points and 4 assists in the effort for Saint Chamond. Saint Chamond's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Vendee Challans maintains fourteenth position with 2-5 record. Saint Chamond at the other side dropped to the ninth place with four games lost. Vendee Challans' next round opponent will be Chartres (#15) on the road.
