Regular Season Round 4: Windsor Exp. - Summerside S. 74-86

Date: November 16, 2012
Greg Surmacz scored a game-high 31 points as the Windsor Express slipped to 1-3 with an 86-74 loss to the Summerside Storm Friday night in front of 500 fans at the WFCU Centre. The Express led 23-22 after the opening quarter but were outplayed in the second quarter to trail 46-39 at the half. "If we would have played the way we did in the first quarter, we would have won this game," Express general manager Chris Mendes said. "Summer-side is a tough team." Victor Morris added 11 points and five rebounds and Anthony Johnson chipped in with 10 points and seven rebounds for the Express, who turned the ball over 19 times. Surmacz, a former Lancer, went five-for-five from the three-point line and was 12-of18 from field-goal range. "He came out really strong from the three-point line," Mendes said. "He's been one of our better players this season." The Storm were led by Avery Smith, who scored 19 points and was 4-for-4 from the free-throw line. Greg Plummer, the league's leading scorer, and Willy Mani-gat added 13 points apiece for Summerside. The Express only generated nine points off the bench while the Storm had 51. Despite falling to 1-3, Mendes said there's no need to hit the panic button. "We have a great group of guys, they just need to gel a little bit more on the court," he said.
