Regular Season Round 7: IR - KR 74-79
Date: November 16, 2012
Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Reykjavik: KR (#5) and IR (#9). IR was defeated at home 74-79 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. The guests trailed by 6 points after three quarters before their 26-15 charge, which allowed them to win the game. KR made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for Martin Hermannsson (190-94) who led his team to a victory scoring 29 points and 4 assists. The former international Helgi Magnusson (195-82, college: Catawba) helped adding 16 points and 7 rebounds. At the losing side American guard Eric Palm (188-87, college: McKendree) responded with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists (made all of his seven free throws) and Serbian-Canadian forward Nemanja Sovic (198-77, college: Pfeiffer) scored 15 points and 8 rebounds. KR (4-2) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Thor Thorl. Loser IR keeps the ninth position with five games lost. KR will face league's second-placed Grindavik at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. IR's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Reykjavik to the arena KFI.
