Regular Season Round 9: ToPo - Ura Basket 107-63

Bottom-ranked Ura Basket (0-8) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 107-63 loss to fourth ranked Torpan Pojat (5-3) in Helsinki on Friday evening. The game without a history. Torpan Pojat led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Ura Basket to just 7 points in third quarter. Torpan Pojat dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Ura Basket's 30. Torpan Pojat forced 25 Ura Basket turnovers and outrebounded them 45-31 including a 36-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Torpan Pojat looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Ura Basket's players. The best player for the winners was American forward HL Coleman (202-74, college: Wyoming) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 15 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Devin Ginty (188-89, college: San Diego, agency: SDJ Sports) chipped in a double-double by scoring 24 points, 11 assists and 5 steals. Ginty is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Torpan Pojat players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Santeri Latvala (186-91) who recorded 20 points and American guard Nolan Richardson (188-84, college: Midwestern St.) added 15 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Ura Basket's coach Lars Ekstrom already knew that his team would not have a big chance, so allowed to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Torpan Pojat moved-up to third place in Division. Loser Ura Basket still closes the standings with eight games lost. Torpan Pojat will face Pyrinto II (#8) in Tampere in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Ura Basket will play at home against the league's second-placed Tapiolan Honka and hopes to get finally their first victory.
