Rather expected game in Thorlakshofn where 8th ranked Fjolnir (3-4) was defeated by sixth ranked Thor Thorl (4-2) 92-83 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 45-33 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Thor Thorl forced 22 Fjolnir turnovers. It was a great evening for American guard Benjamin Smith (178-87, college: Jacksonville) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 46 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Naturalized American forward Darrell Flake (193-80, college: McKendree) helped adding 23 points and 11 rebounds. At the losing side American forward Sylvester Spicer (198-86, college: Rogers St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 15 rebounds and the other American import forward Tomas Tomasson (193-91, college: Newberry) scored 16 points. Four Fjolnir players scored in double figures. Thor Thorl moved-up to fourth place, which they share with KR. Fjolnir lost their third game in a row. They keep the eighth position with four games lost. Thor Thorl will face bottom-ranked Tindastoll (#12) in Sauoarkrokur in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Fjolnir will play at home against Njardvik (#9) in Njardvik and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
