Regular Season Round 18: Portland TB - Houston R. 119-117 OT
Date: November 16, 2012
The Trail Blazers gave a sellout crowd at the Rose Garden something they haven't had since the season opener – a home victory after a wild overtime affair. Portland overcame a 16-point first-half deficit to snap a three-game home losing streak. The Blazers, who won at Sacramento on Tuesday, won consecutive games for the first times this season. Rookie point guard Damian Lillard added to his growing early resume with a clutch late performance as he scored 16 of Portland's final 19 points, including two baskets in the final 40 seconds of regulation. He finished with a career-high 27 points and added five assists and five rebounds. Nicolas Batum continued to live up to the four-year, $44 million extension he signed, getting a career-high 35 points. It was the second time this season he has hit a career high after he scored 33 points six days before against San Antonio. Batum shot 13 for 19 from the field, including 5 for 8 from three-point range, and added six rebounds, four blocks and three assists. Jared Jeffries only statistics were two assists and a foul, but he made a big contribution in the third, when the Blazers got back in the game, taking hard charging fouls against Rockets guard Jeremy Lin and James Harden, who barreled hard into him. Former Jefferson High School star Terrence Jones suited up for the first time as an NBA player in his hometown, but did not get off the bench. Acting Houston coach Kelvin Sampson said in pregame that an injury to forward Carlos Delfino might prompt him to play Jones, who instead his seventh DNP of the season. Second-year guard Nolan Smith got his first stint on the inactive list. Coach Terry Stotts said he wants to rotate his younger players for inactive stints. ". I don't want to single out one guy to just be on inactive," Stott said. Courtesy of: oregonlive.com
