Regular Season Round 20: Detroit P. - Boston C. 103-83

Date: November 18, 2012
AUBURN HILLS – For the fourth time in as many home games this season, the Detroit Pistons built a double-digit lead at The Palace. The difference this time, however, was they didn't let it slip away. The Pistons won their first home game of the season Sunday, beating the Boston Celtics 103-83 behind 20 points and 13 rebounds from Greg Monroe. It was the Pistons' second victory in 11 games this season. Jason Maxiell added 15 points for Detroit and Rodney Stuckey had 14 along with Kyle Singler. The Pistons took control in the third quarter, when they outscored Boston 23-14 to turn a five-point halftime lead into a 71-57 advantage heading to the fourth. HIGHLIGHTS -- The Pistons won for the first time in the three games they've scored at least 100 points this season. -- After a slow start, the Pistons shot lights out in the second quarter. They were 11-for-16 (.688) to turn a 25-23 deficit into a 48-43 lead at halftime. -- Corey Maggette, playing in just his third game after missing the first eight with a strained calf, scored a season-high 11 points. -- The Pistons outrebounded Boston 39-30. LOWLIGHTS -- Both teams were sloppy early, combining for 10 turnovers in the first quarter, when the Pistons shot 7-for-19 (.368) from the field but trailed just 25-23. -- The Pistons finished the first half with 12 turnovers. -- Brandon Knight had five turnovers in the first three quarters. NOTES -- Darko Milicic, the Pistons' former No. 2 overall draft pick, did not accompany the Celtics to Michigan because of family matters. -- Slava Kravtsov and Kim English were inactive for the Pistons. ISSUE OF THE DAY: FINAL VERDICT The majority of the fans on hand Sunday were no doubt in attendance because of the basketball game. But maybe some came out to watch Jay Sean because not many people left their seats during the intermission and there were lots of fans taking pictures and video of his performance. Still, basketball is the name of the game when the Pistons are at The Palace. Courtesy of: www.mlive.com
