Regular Season Round 22: Philadelph.76 - Toronto R. 106-98

Date: November 20, 2012
PHILADELPHIA—Despite the unexpected return of point guard Kyle Lowry, the Raptors couldn’t hang on to a fourth-quarter lead and fell 106-98 to the Philadelphia 76ers here Tuesday night. The Sixers got six huge points from veteran Jason Richardson down the stretch — a traditional three-point play and a three-point field goal — and outscored Toronto 33-18 in the final quarter. It ruined a solid offensive game by Toronto, which got 24 points from DeMar DeRozan and 23 from Andrea Bargnani. Richardson, who missed part of the third quarter after taking a hit to the head, had 21 points for Philadelphia and Nick Young had 23. Lowry had missed six games with a sprained right ankle and a bruised cuboid bone and wasn’t expected back until at least the end of this week. But after working out for the team’s medical staff on Monday and going through Tuesday morning’s shootaround he was cleared to play, which eased the workload of veteran Jose Calderon. “Jose’s a good horse, but if you ride a horse too hard it’s going to break down, so we’ll figure out something as far as rotation,” coach Dwane Casey said before the game. “I’m sure we’ll have to monitor Kyle’s minutes to make sure he doesn’t come back too quick and put too many minutes in too quick.” Lowry, a Philadelphia native, had 13 points in 28 minutes.
