There was a small surprise in St.Catharines, ON where fifth ranked Golden Gaels (4-1) smashed 5th ranked Badgers (1-4) 85-51 on Friday. The guests trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 20-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 85-51. Golden Gaels dominated on the defensive end, holding Badgers to just 7 points in second quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Badgers' 26 and made 18-of-20 free shots (90.0 percent) during the game. Golden Gaels forced 22 Badgers turnovers. Forward Greg Faulkner (193) scored 20 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard James Asefa (193) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side forward Mike Luby (213) responded with 10 points and 6 rebounds and American guard Jameson Tipping (201, college: W.Kentucky) scored 6 points and 10 rebounds. Badgers' coach gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Golden Gaels moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Badgers lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
