No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Bulleen Boomers (6-5) beat 8th ranked West Coast Waves (2-9) in Melbourne 67-61 on Friday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 26-15. But West Coast Waves won second period 14-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Bulleen Boomers won last quarter 18-13. The winners were led by international center Elyse Penaluna (193-88) who scored that evening 27 points and international swingman Tess Madgen (180-90) supported her with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Even 20 points by New Zealand forward Antonia Edmondson (181-87) did not help to save the game for West Coast Waves. Guard Melissa Marsh (209-85) added 7 points and 6 rebounds for the guests. Bulleen Boomers have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place. West Coast Waves lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with nine games lost. Bulleen Boomers will meet at home league's leader Bendigo Spirit in the next round and it may be the game of the week. West Coast Waves will play against Townsville Fire (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
