Regular Season Round 8: London L. - St.John M.R. 113-82

The Saint John Mill Rats, presented by Rogers, suffered a tough road loss on Thursday night at the Budweiser Gardens against the London Lightning with a final score of 113-82. The Mill Rats opened up the game strong, holding a lead over the undefeated Lightning at the end of the first, 21-25. Half way through the second the Lightning started to battle back with the help of Elvin Mims. With just under 5 minutes on the clock before half, the teams were neck and neck, but the Lightning pulled ahead, closing the half leading 50-42. The second half, the Mill Rats were not able to get their shots off. They were outscored by the Lightning bench who contributed 59 points. The Lightning rebounded aggressively, grabbing 59 to the Mill Rats 45. The Lightning won the game 113-82. Although it was a tough loss, it was a big game for Mill Rats Cavell Johnson who posted a double double netting 15 points and 13 boards. This was answered by Lightning's Elvin Mims who played a big game, adding 14 points and 12 boards. Leading scorers for the Mill Rats were Anthony Anderson with 21, while Jerice Crouch and Cavell Johnson each added 15. The Lightning were led by Adrian Moss who contributed 15 points, while Elvin Mims added 14. The Mill Rats fall to 3-6 while the Lightning rise to 8-0.
