Regular Season Round 32: N.Orleans H. - Oklah.City T. 79-100

Date: December 1, 2012
Kevin Martin scored 19 and Russell Westbrook had a double double as the Oklahoma City Thunder completed their back-to-back by defeating the New Orleans Hornets. The Thunder led by only 10 at halftime, but outscored the Hornets 30-13 in the third to go up by 27 entering the fourth quarter. Scott Brooks decided to rest the starters in the final quarter as the Thunder match their season high win streak of 5 games. The Thunder defeated the Hornets 110-95 just 15 days ago. The Hornets, who were without Anthony Davis and Eric Gordon, were lead by Ryan Anderson who has 21 and 10 rebounds, and Robin Lopez who had 12 points. Kevin Durant led the Thunder with 20 points on 7-13 shooting. While, OKC began the game a little sluggish, the Thunder came out of halftime focused and ended any thought of an upset tonight. The Thunder were able to continue their trend this season of point distribution, and better than expected defense in order to blow this game wide open in the third. Once again the Thunder let their younger players play for the entire fourth quarter, as both squads let their talented young gain some experience. The Thunder once again showed just how much their defense has improved over last year holding the Hornets to 37%, while only committing 10 turnovers before the bench took over the game. Despite the starters not playing the final quarter, OKC also had 5 different players score in double figures. New Orleans, who was missing their two best players, had to rely on their frontcourt to put up any resistance to OKC's defense, but were unable to. The Thunder have put together another impressive defense performance, holding the Hornets to 37% FG on the night. While the Thunder were able to shoot 51%. OKC were able to distribute the ball fairly well throughout the nice once again. Five thunder players had double figures and even Kendrick Perkins went for 10 against the young up and comer Robin Lopez. The Thunder will have a few days off before beginning a challenging couple of games against the Nets, and then at home against the Lakers. Chances are a week from now we will have a lot better idea just how good this new lineup really is. Courtesy of: welcometoloudcity.com
