Regular Season Round 11: Rennes - Challans 75-83

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 14th ranked Union Rennes (3-7) was defeated at home by fifteenth ranked Vendee Challans (3-7) 83-75 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 10 points after three quarters before their 27-9 charge, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was guard Johan Rathieuville (177-85) who scored 20 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots). Guard Julien Geay (193-85) chipped in 15 points. Vendee Challans' coach Olivier Le Minor used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Senegalese guard El Kabir Pene (190-84) produced 16 points and forward Omar Sall (195-80) added 9 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Vendee Challans moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Rennes and St Chamond. Union Rennes lost their third game in a row. Vendee Challans will meet at home higher ranked Quimper UJAP (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Union Rennes will have a break next round.
